In 2007 Jonathan LeVine Gallery in association with Choque Cultural Gallery presented Ruas de São Paulo: A Survey of Brazilian Street Art, a landmark Brazilian street art exhibition in New York. Featured artists included Boleto, Fefê, Highraff, Kboco, Onesto, Speto, Titi Freak, and Zezão. A multitiered cultural event, Debra Anderson implemented a multiphase communications campaign that included promotion of a fundraiser in partnership with BrazilFoundation, live painting launch event at Hiro Ballroom, mural project at Bronx city schools, private preview brunch and opening gallery reception. Anderson liaised with fourteen visiting Brazilian artists and co-presenting gallerists Baixo and Mariana Ribeiro from Choque Cultural Gallery, videographers, and acclaimed photographers Ignacio Aronovich and Louise Chin of LOST ART. In addition to working on developing sponsors relations with ALARM magazine, Anderson worked with production and event team Learned Evolution on logistics. Anderson wrote and edited copy for promotional materials, artist’s bios, brochures, press releases and contributed to a full-color, sixteen-page exhibition catalogue. Anderson’s media outreach efforts secured national and international press coverage in dozens of diverse media outlets including The New York Times, Extra USA, Reuters, Dazed and Confused, Gothamist, GenArt, NYLON, Overspray magazine, WoosterCollective, and MTV magazine.
